Is There a Montana in Tennessee’s Future?
Nick Montana, the highly touted quarterback out of Oaks Christian Academy in Westlake Village, California and of course the son of NFL Hall of Famer Joe Montana is in the thick of the recruiting process and the University of Tennessee is right in the middle of it. Montana was a recent unofficial visitor on campus last month and seemed to like what he saw. He has made some interesting comments recently that makes it look like all he needs is an offer from Tennessee to become a Volunteer, but Lane Kiffin and staff aren’t willing to do it just yet. “I’m not going to wait around, but there would definitely be a lot of interest (if UT offered),” Montana said in a recent interview. It seems as though the Tennessee staff wants to see Montana throw in person and I would expect an offer soon after that. With the quarterback position a top priority in next year’s signing class, Kiffin wants to make sure he makes the right offers to only the top quarterbacks that fit his system. With former Tennessee quarterback Casey Clausen being the quarterbacks coach for Montana’s high-school, there is a Tennessee connection here that should help to give Montana a sense of what it will be like in Knoxville. Expect an offer from Tennessee soon and if all bodes well, we might just have a Montana quarterbacking at the University of Tennessee.
