Bobbing for Oranges: The SEC Tournament

Making the rounds:

  • After the Bammers beat Vandy last night, it sets up a 2nd round battle between the Vols and the Tide.  Over at 3sib, where these UT/Bama games mean bragging rights, the Capstone King has a preview on the game.
  • After losing to the Tide less than a week ago, the Vols promise better results this time around.
  • With the success the Tennessee basketball program has had since Bruce Pearl came on board, it’s no surprise that his assistants’ names are starting to be tossed around for coaching vacancies.  One of these assistants, associate head coach Tony Jones, has been named as a possible candidate for the coaching vacancy at Tennessee State.  No word on whether he’s interested in the job or not.
  • When the rain comes, everyone heads indoors.  That is, everyone but head coach Lane Kiffin, who welcomed the rain in Knoxville on Thursday, saying the adverse conditions always better prepare players for game day.
  • With Bryce Brown’s decision only three days away, rumors are spreading all over forums that Mr. Brown is coming to Knoxville for an official visit to see the Vols practice in full pads.  If it’s true, it would be huge to have the nation’s top prospect in town the weekend before he makes his final decision.  But in all honesty, no one can figure out if it’s true or not.
